Egypt Embassy Legalization of U.S. Documents, Including Powers of Attorney

Selling an apartment in Nasr City, settling an inheritance in Alexandria or representing a company in Cairo from the United States requires a document that Egyptian notaries and courts will honor. That means Egypt embassy legalization: notarization, state seal, U.S. Department of State authentication and the Egyptian embassy or consulate. We draft the power of attorney if you need one and carry the file through every office.

Power of attorney signed before a Florida Notary Public before its legalization — Poder notarial firmado en Florida

Private company, not the Egyptian consulate

Apostille de la Haya, trade name of Riveros International Business Corp, is a private company registered in Florida that manages documents. We are not the Embassy of Egypt or any of its consulates, we are not a government office and no authority endorses us. Seals are issued by the offices in charge; we draft, notarize, present and ship, and our fees are separate from official fees. We do not give legal advice: which powers to grant is your decision or your attorney’s in Egypt. We do not obtain or request official records.

The problem

Why Egypt embassy legalization files are different

Someone must sign for you in Egypt

A sale, an inheritance division, a bank matter or a company you own. So your brother, your lawyer or a partner needs a power of attorney that the Shahr El-Aqari notary office will accept.

The consulate route is closed to you

Egyptian consulates draw up powers of attorney for nationals who appear in person. However, if you cannot travel to New York, Chicago, Houston or Los Angeles, or you are not an Egyptian national, that door does not open.

A name spelled two ways

Egyptian IDs, passports and U.S. records often transliterate the same name differently. As a result, a mismatch is the most common reason a power of attorney is refused in Cairo.

Four offices, one wrong order

Notarization, state, U.S. Department of State, embassy or consulate. Skip or invert one, and the file comes back. Then the clock restarts.

Which Egyptian office, exactly?

The embassy in Washington and four consulates general share the country by jurisdiction. So sending the file to the wrong one costs weeks.

The hearing date does not move

Court sessions, sale closings and university deadlines in Egypt are set in advance. Therefore, a returned document means missing them.

How we solve it

How Egypt embassy legalization gets a document accepted

We draft and notarize the power of attorney

First you tell us the powers your representative needs. Then we prepare the document in English or Spanish with the identity details as they appear in the passports, and a Florida Notary Public notarizes it in-house.

Names as the Egyptian side reads them

We match the spelling of every name to the passports and Egyptian IDs you send us, because that is what the receiving notary will compare. In other words, no surprises at the counter.

The right consulate the first time

Washington, New York, Chicago, Houston or Los Angeles: we confirm which Egyptian office has jurisdiction over your document before it leaves Miami. So it does not travel twice.

Four offices, one person

Notarization, state seal, federal authentication and legalization are followed by the same person. Also, that person reports to you at each step.

Corporate files kept together

Certificates of incorporation, resolutions and powers of attorney for a company in Egypt move as one file. When required, the chamber of commerce step is added too.

Delivered to the person who will use it

Finally, the legalized original ships with tracking to your representative in Egypt, to you, or to whoever you designate.

How it works

Egypt embassy legalization from notarization to consulate

For public records the chain starts at the state; for a power of attorney it starts with notarization. The general explanation is on the main document legalization page; here is what applies to Egypt.

Apostille de la Haya
01

Notarization, state and Washington

A power of attorney is signed before a Florida Notary Public; the Florida Department of State certifies the notary's signature and the U.S. Department of State authenticates that certification. Public records skip notarization and start at the issuing state.

02

Embassy of Egypt or consulate general

The consular section in Washington, D.C., or the consulate general in New York, Chicago, Houston or Los Angeles, legalizes the document according to the jurisdiction of the issuing state. We confirm the office before submitting.

03

In Egypt: Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Depending on who receives the document, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs may authenticate it before a notary office, court, bank or university accepts it. We tell you in advance whether to expect that step.

What we legalize

Documents that go through Egypt embassy legalization

The documents that make up most Egyptian files. We work from the document you already hold and do not obtain or request official records.

Powers of attorney for inheritance and estates

Bank and financial powers of attorney

Company representation and resolutions

Degrees for Egyptian universities and ministries

Marriage and birth certificates for civil-status matters

Divorce decrees

Affidavits and declarations

Egypt specifics

Four details that decide an Egypt embassy legalization

Two routes for a power of attorney

If you can appear at an Egyptian consulate and you are a national, the consulate can draw up the document itself. Otherwise, the U.S. notarized route with full legalization is the alternative, and that is what we run.

Arabic translation in Egypt

Notary offices, courts and ministries work in Arabic. However, the translation is usually made in Egypt after legalization, so we confirm what the receiving entity wants before you spend on it.

Commercial papers and the chamber

Certificates of incorporation, board resolutions and distribution agreements generally need a chamber of commerce certification before the consulate step. Therefore, we add it when it applies.

Requirements move

The embassy and each consulate update forms and acceptable copies without notice. For that reason, we check the rules in force on the day we submit.

Why us

Why Egypt embassy legalization of a power of attorney starts well with us

The document is drafted and notarized under one roof: a Florida Notary Public leads our practice, in Miami since 2009. A written quote separates official fees from ours before anything moves, the same person follows the file through the four offices, and you can talk to us on WhatsApp, on Zoom during office hours or in person in Brickell by appointment. Powers to grant are always your decision or your Egyptian attorney’s; we do not advise on them.

If you are an Egyptian national and can appear in person, yes, and that route may suit you better. Otherwise, we notarize in Florida and legalize through the chain.

Yes. We prepare it with the powers you indicate and the identity details as they appear in the passports, and then we notarize it. However, we do not give legal advice; consult an attorney in Egypt about the scope.

The embassy in Washington, D.C., or the consulate general in New York, Chicago, Houston or Los Angeles, depending on the issuing state. So we confirm it before submitting.

Because Egypt is not part of the Hague Convention. So Egyptian authorities require embassy or consular legalization instead of an apostille.

Sometimes. It depends on the receiving entity, so we tell you in advance whether to expect that step.

No. Universities and vital records offices issue those only to you. Also, we do not obtain, request or process official records; we start when you have the document.

Drafting and notarization take days. Then the three seals take several weeks, so the written quote includes an estimated timeline.
